The hidden Combat JKD sect is finally brought out to the public. Although I mentioned Combat JKD back in the early 1990s in international magazine articles and then in the ground breaking self-defense tapes Combat JKD (which changed the entire market) I kept quiet about the details of our branch.
With the birth of Web 2.0 came the onslaught of the wannabe experts, those who were seeking attention on Youtube (and other sites) by stealing others’ work and parroting something they had read–but never done. You see these guys all lacked operational experience.
And then came the experts with amateur fight records that amounted to under 10 fights–far from being a professional. Well these frauds tended to back each other up to try to create an air of reality about themselves. Some people as gurus came and went out of vogue (e.g., Blauer, Furey, etc.) and the hucksters would pretend they knew them and had improved on them.
All the while never able to answer the one direct question that would reveal true legitimacy “How many times did you fight multiple opponents? How many knife fights have you had? How many fights have you had?
So to create a legacy to the legitimacy of the little known (but greatly feared) Combat JKD branch I have dedicated this page to the Epic Days of Sagas. Furthermore, I undertook to reconnect all of the members who were part of it.

Unfortunately Ken and Stan’s St Louis students refused to step up to make this happen.
Their lack of support has killed this once in a lifetime event. (On the other hand, thanks to my students who were committing from much farther away and wanted to see this event take place.)
Let me tell you a story.
In the history of JKD there are many people you might know, the historian and most recognizable proponent, Dan Inosanto, the technician, Ted Wong, the rock solid Taky Kimura, Jerry Poteet, etc.
ON the other hand, I bet you have no idea about the most feared fighter in JKD. The man whose very name used to scare street punks in East St. Louis. The one man who did exactly what Bruce Lee wanted. The one who took it to the streets and proved what worked and what didn’t. In Street application there is one name that stands above all others, Mike Sanlin . (Mike is the legendary East St. Louis JKD street fighter that Dan Inosanto told to write “the book” on street combat).
Mike trained hundreds of people. Of those hundreds he ONLY bestowed instructor status to 4 men. That is important to keep in mind, there were ONLY 4 Legitimate Combat JKD Instructors, ever. And those 4 men span decades of Mike’s teaching. And these 4 men became lost to each other.
Why lost?
Their personal journeys and adventures took them, quite literally, across and around the World. (Maybe you will hear a little bit about that at this event.)
Unfortunately,.much like the mythical Jedi Knights who dwindled in numbers, so did the number of legitimate Combat JKD instructors. Sadly, of the 4 original instructors there are only 3 left alive.
And before they are all gone they’ve decided regardless of living on two different continents, the 13 time zones, the 12,000 miles, the thousands of dollars in plane tickets, etc. it’s time to place all three in the same location at the same time,. time to REUNITE.

Stan Brooks, St. Louis, USA, first accepted to training in 1970 
Stan has decades of training coupled with being an instructor at the Legendary C.M.A.A. in St. Louis (responsible for bringing JKD and Filipino Martial Arts to the forefront in the USA).
Stan specializes in body and mind integration.
He has trained hundreds of students through the years.
He has concentrated on how Combat JKD can change and enhance your life through a recreational long term approach.
Ken O’Neill, St. Louis, USA selected for training in 1973
Ken has trained in arts from BJJ to Folkstyle Wrestling.
